My wife and I were out for a drive with no particular place as our destination. Just driving around the Laurel Highlands when she mentioned that she was hungry. The Ligonier County Inn has been on my list of places that I've wanted to try, and it just happened to be close by when we were ready for a bite to eat! We just missed their Father's Day buffet! Bummer! So, we had to order from the menu. We first ordered the crab dip appetizer. It was very good! For our meals, my wife ordered one of their specials for the weekend, a smoked salmon dish. I ordered the Shepherd's Pie. While we waited, we were served our salads and a nice little loaf of bread that had been freshly baked in a small crock. It was very good! We were also served our salads. This was somewhat of a disappointment... They were trying to be a little to fancy-smancy for my taste. Instead of your normal iceberg or romaine lettuce, the mixture of greens they served was not to my liking. There may have even been some kale or something in there! Yuck! I must say that it wasn't terrible, just not my type of salad. Our meals arrived and the smoked salmon smelled wonderful! My wife took a bite and it was quickly followed by an "Mmmmm!" She offered up a bite to me which I gladly took because my Shepherd's Pie was still a little to hot to eat! The salmon had a nice smoke to it, very tasty! It also had a dill sauce on it which complimented it nicely. My wife ordered the mashed potatoes and the vegetable medley for her sides. Both were delicious. As my Shepherd's Pie cooled down enough to eat, I dug in! It was the first time I had ever eaten it, and was not disappointed! It was made with ground beef and lamb together in a savory gravy and topped with veggies, toasted mashed taters, and cheese! Delicious! Overall we were very satisfied with our meals, the appetizer, the service, and the bread. The salads, not so much. But I guess that's just a difference in personal preferences. The Inn itself is a very quaint, nostalgic building. The history of is printed on the menu. Very interesting. I must say, we will probably return here to dine once again!

Breakfast is phenomenal here. All made fresh right in front of you, omelets with whatever you want in them, freshly made waffles (with fruit and fresh homemade whipped topping if you so desire), French toast, bacon , sausage and homefries. An assortment of breads, muffins and fresh fruit. All at a great price. And you can go back for more if you desire. The service is great by some of the most friendliest people around. It is best to make reservations, especially for Sunday morning. 5 stars

First time visiting. Came for breakfast. Had a short wait in their very comfortable lobby. Nice homey atmosphere. The bar was set up as a cooking station for made to order omletes. The adjacent room had a waffle and French toast station, fresh fruit, bacon, fried potatoes, rolls and Danishes. The food was excellent, all you can eat and very reasonable, only $9, beverage included! Everyone seemed to enjoy working there as it showed in their interaction with you and each other. This is where the locals eat, so you know it's good. The only negative thing I would point out is that it does not appear to be very handicap friendly. From our very cozy and warm seating area, I had to step up, down, up, down several times in going back and forth to the food prep areas. Maybe there was another way and I didn't see. Most definitely will eat here again when I am in the area!

Very pleased, just what we were looking for. Lots of character and charm. If you're looking for glitz and glamour it's not for you. But, I found it a refreshing option to the redundant "plastic" decor so readily available.

The atmosphere is wonderful and homey. The staff is professional and very personal with everyone. It's just enjoyable and the food is amazing no matter what it is.
